Pura Vida is a son of Carambole and the mare Stakkonita Z. His sire, Carambole, needs little introduction; under Willem Greve, this stunning Holsteiner competed at the highest level. Together, they won the Grand Prix of Amsterdam and shone in several Nations Cups, including Falsterbo, Rotterdam, and Barcelona. Many of his offspring are excelling at the 1.60m level, such as Hello Senator, Elina, Formidable, Hesjedal NL, and Quantum Robin V.

The latter, Quantum Robin V, is particularly interesting as he is the full brother of Pura Vida. Under Max Kühner, he is making a big impression at the highest level and appears to have a bright future ahead. Another full brother of Pura Vida is the approved stallion Haynes GH, who is currently competing at the 1.30m level. Their dam, Stakkonita Z, also produced a 1.30m and a 1.35m horse. She is a daughter of the 1.60m jumping stallion Stakkato, who became a highly influential sire of sport horses after his own successful career. Further in the damline, we find the Olympic stallion Carthago and the stallion Legaat. Pura Vida’s granddam also produced a 1.45m and a 1.40m horse, proving that this damline consistently delivers top sport horses.
